Guiding business owners to think beyond profits is challenging, yet eternally rewarding. As a facilitator of the GOD-Centered business framework, you delight in being the teacher GOD called you to be. The first exercise you will guide the participants through is the vision GOD gives. The first exercise will need to be explained to help those who are skeptical, get a little more trust. Where does being thankful lead me? Be prepared for this question. It would be easy to hit the participants over the head and say "Just have faith!" While true, that is not the purpose of this class. People who are starting out are nervous, jaded and possibly forgotten. They need you, the facilitator, to have compassion. The image associated with this article makes no promises, but guides the participants through the stages of growth. Let’s talk about the stages. Ideation Every business has a start. Many businesses stay in the ideation stage and never come out. This is not a bad thing, but sometimes can be more difficult than expected. In the ideation stage, the business is forming ideas or concepts. Sometimes this is referred to as a startup or a hobby according to the IRS. Their only measure of success is the bank account. Unfortunately, a bank account cannot help the business owner resolve expense issues. Cost overruns and every expense needs to be tracked to develop a plan to reduce the expense and stop the cost overrun. Here is where the GOD Centered business owner will be tested. Will she be trustworthy with finances? Will he be trustworthy with GOD’s people? Ideation characteristics needed to be addressed: Mistakes made regularly and caught late. Message of “Me Only” or “Buy My Stuff” No Fruit of the Spirit Institution Now the business is stable, valued and has well established operations customers know and trust. They have realized that GOD measures success and helps the GOD-Centered business owner bear HIS fruit. Their trust has increased enough to provide excellent customer service and operations. Cost controls are in place and a generosity plan is being executed. Institution characteristics needed to be addressed: Pride of accomplishment can cause blindness to GOD’s leading More responsibilities can cause one to be too busy for GOD. Willingness to be led to another place by GOD may diminish Increase Not only has the business been stable for a long period, it needs to grow to accept the added demand. GOD has increased the territory for HIS purpose and trusts the GOD-Centered business owner with more. Expansion plans are based on what GOD wants. Increase characteristics needed to be addressed: Complacency. Feeling like one who has “made it” can cause a lack of seeking. Accumulated wealth can cause a fear of loss and more time would be spent keeping it and less time spent bearing GOD’s fruit. Growing others is the goal, but time to do so could become limited with the added demands. As a facilitator, rest the participants minds and advise them that by placing total faith in GOD, their future will never be met with disappointment. Refer to the participants to work through the Remove the Trash section of the GOD-Centered Framework regularly.
